Google just launched Google Analytics Real-Time to give web publishers reports that show current traffic trends and patterns, in addition to Analytics Premium.
Web publishers can use Real-Time reports -- only available in the newest version -- to see the impact of social media and ensure campaign tracking is correct before launching.
"For example, last week we posted about the latest episode of Web Analytics TV and also tweeted about the post," Google Product Manager John Jersin writes on the company blog. "By campaign tagging the links we shared, we could see how much traffic each channel is driving to the blog as it happened. We could also see when we stopped receiving visits from the tweet, which helps know when to reengage."
Chartbeat, a real-time analytics service founded in 2009, charges companies monthly rates starting at $9.95, while Google Analytics Real-Time is free.
LAUNCH has reached out to Google and Chartbeat for comment.
Google also recently released Analytics Premium to give major publishers enhanced data collection processing power with more custom variables and unsampled reports, advanced analysis with attribution modeling tools, better support and more.
"We learned from some of our largest customers that they have some specific needs that the current version of Google Analytics can't meet in their entirety," Google Analytics Product Manager Enrique Munoz Torres writes on the company blog. "During our pilot phase, we’ve been working with Gucci, Travelocity, TransUnion, eHarmony and others, to make sure Google Analytics Premium meets their needs."
Google Analytics Premium is available to companies for a fixed annual fee in the U.S., U.K. and Canada. Google is gradually rolling out its free Real-Time tool over the next couple of weeks. Publishers can sign up for early access here.
