Emmy Awards Get Interactive with iPhone App

The 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards show broadcasts on FOX live tonight 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT, but iPhone and iPad owners can supplement their Emmy experience with the free Emmy app from Truelogic.

The Emmy app provides real-time updates of all category winners and features bios for the nominees so you can decide for yourself whether Laura Linney, Edie Falco or Amy Poehler deserves the Emmy for lead actress in a comedy series. The app also has information on Emmy nominees dated back to 1949.

The app's social netwoking functionality lets users keep track of what other Emmy watchers are saying on Facebook and Twitter. You can add to the conversation by using the official hashtag #Emmys.

Last month, the MTV Video Music Awards presented live Twitter visualizations powered by San Francisco-based Stamen technology [ see our story here ].

Does an app for an award show make you more likely to tune in and participate?

The Emmys LIVE function brings up a video selection screen where you can tune into event webcasts and the live show.

The photo function brings you to a series of photo albums that will be continuously updated throughout the event.
