Brian Alvey is a leader in the online publishing space and has built more than two dozen content management platforms which have served thousands of popular sites and apps. He is best known for co-founding the blog publishing company Weblogs, Inc. with Jason Calacanis. As Brian describes it, "Jason and I didn't invent blogging. We perfected it."
Brian grew up in Brooklyn and now lives in San Francisco where he is the creator of Clipisode, an app where brands and creative people of all kinds — musicians, authors, influencers, celebrities and athletes — can quickly make broadcast-quality video shows with their friends and fans.
Jason Calacanis is a technology entrepreneur, angel investor, and the host of the popular weekly podcast This Week in Startups. He's the founder of a series of conferences that bring entrepreneurs together with potential investors.
As a “scout” for top-tier Silicon Valley venture capital firm Sequoia Capital and later as an angel investor, Jason has invested in 150 early-stage startups including 4 that have achieved billion-dollar valuations (so far).
His book "Angel: How to Invest in Technology Startups: Timeless Advice from an Angel Investor Who Turned $100,000 into $100,000,000" was published by Harper Collins on July 18th, 2017. He lives in San Francisco, California.
Mike was first introduced to entrepreneurship at 22 when he operated his family’s AAMCO transmission franchises and commercial property after his father’s death. After finalizing the sale of these businesses, Mike joined the management team of LANsystems, Inc., a systems integrator that was sold to RR Donnelley & Sons. He then co-founded Union Square Technology Group and Aspire.net Managed Systems, which were sold to mindShift Technologies, Inc. Mike is currently an owner of Something Digital, an eCommerce digital agency with offices in New York and Seattle.
Mike is a frequent judge at the Launch Festival and LP in the Launch Fund. He is also an angel investor in companies such as Brilliant.org, Ohmconnect and Contraline.
Mike has a BSEE and an MSEE from NYU Tandon Polytechnic Institute and an MBA in Finance from Pace University. In his spare time, Mike loves to cook and collect wine.
